Alex, recipient of mia’s blessing’s grant
“Our goal was stability and togetherness. Mia’s Miracles helped make that possible.” – Alex’s mother
Meet Alex. At just 3 years old, Alexander—known as “Awesome Alex”—was a happy, energetic toddler. He loved preschool, playing soccer, and being around his big brother and his friends. Life was full of laughter, routines, and the joyful chaos of a young family.
But everything changed one Thursday when Alex came home from preschool with what seemed like a stomach bug. So did six of his classmates. Yet while they quickly recovered, Alex’s vomiting continued, happening like clockwork every morning. His parents knew something wasn’t right.
Trusting their instincts, they brought him to his doctor, and within a week, their world turned upside down. Alex was diagnosed with Medulloblastoma, a rare and aggressive brain and spine cancer. Further tests revealed he had subtype 3, the most challenging form to treat.
Over the next year, Alex faced more than any child should: two brain surgeries, three rounds of chemotherapy, and three rounds of high-dose chemo paired with stem cell transplants. Through every painful moment, his parents and older brother Jacob, just six years old, never left his side.
Today, we are thrilled to share that Alex has no evidence of disease, and his fighting spirit continues to inspire everyone around him.
During treatment, Alex’s family focused on what mattered most: keeping their boys in the only home they’ve ever known and making sure one parent was always with Alex in the hospital. But this meant taking extensive unpaid time off work, leaving finances stretched and uncertain.
Thanks to the Mia’s Miracles Financial Aid Fund, the family received critical support that helped cover a portion of their mortgage during one of the hardest moments in their lives. That grant brought not just financial relief—it brought hope, stability, and the reassurance that they weren’t alone.
“We saw too many young kids alone in the hospital because their parents couldn’t afford to stay,” Alex’s parents shared. “Foundations like Mia’s Miracles are true game changers. They gave us the ability to be there, really be there, for Alex. We will forever be grateful for that.”
Your support helps families like Alex’s stay together when it matters most. Thank you for making miracles happen.
